“When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us”
15th November 2011

On Sunday 14 November, well over 1000 people came together at the 10:00am Service of Civic Remembrance at All Saints Church, to remember those who gave their lives in the Great War, and in the all-too-many conflicts since. The numbers attending this deeply poignant service were unprecedented, with not an empty seat in the Church, and many more listening outside on speakers especially brought in for the occasion. It was a great privilege to welcome our Veterans to the Service, and representatives of a large number of local organisations were also present to pay their respects, many bringing with them Standards that were received into the Church at the start of the service. Following the Service – led by the Choir of Boys and Men - the congregation proceeded to the Town and County War Memorial, where a vast number of wreaths were laid by representatives and individuals, and the Mayor of Northampton, Councillor Jamie Lane, read the Kohima Epitaph:

When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us: For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.

That evening it was the turn of the Girls’ Choir, who performed John Rutter’s very moving Requiem to remember the Fallen, accompanied by a band of instrumentalists.

We will Remember them.
