Former Head Chorister at All Saints and
later Organ Scholar, George Haynes, has been announced
as the winner of this year’s Eton Choral Composition
Competition.
George Haynes, 24, is currently a Lay Clerk at
Peterborough Cathedral. A music graduate of the
University of York, he has also been a Choral Scholar at
York Minster and Wells Cathedral. Born in 1989, his
musical life began as a chorister at All Saints’ Church
in Northampton. His piece ‘O sacrum convivium’ was first
performed at the General Synod Eucharist by the Choir of
York Minster in 2010. Aside from cathedral duties,
George pursues a career as a freelance singer, conductor
and accompanist.
